April is Poetry Month

April is Poetry Month, and NEHS is working on some ideas for promoting poetry across the curriculum.  NEHS members are interested in which of the adults in the building (especially those outside of the English department) like poetry!  If you have a favorite poem or poet, use poetry as a form of self care, or just like it for whatever reason, we want to hear from you! Please fill out the FORM below:

Automotive Skills

On Saturday February 22 th , the WCC Automotive department hosted the 17 th annual WCC/VALEES Automotive Skills Contest. For this contest, WCC instructors set up a variety of real world automotive stations to test students’ knowledge and ability to diagnose and repair complex automotive problems.

Six local high school and career center programs competed for the coveted WCC/VALEES Skills Traveling Trophy. During the 4-hour competition, each school’s team of 5 students took on a variety of different tasks at each test station and were measured on their diagnostic process and ability to properly diagnose the vehicle. Judges were at each station assigning point values for each step taken.

In the end there can only be one winner, and this year, Oswego East High School were crowned the champions under their instructor, and WCC Auto Tech Alumni, Jake Evans. Oswego High School, Indian Valley Vocational Center, West Aurora High School, East Aurora High School and Fox Valley Career Center were the other 5 competitors.

All students competed with a high level of knowledge and skill, and most importantly, had a great time
participating. VALEES sponsored a breakfast for all competitors in the contest. The WCC Automotive
Department would like to thank VALEES, Javi Galvez and Regan Boll of Toyota, Scott Geisen of Ford, and all WCC staff and parents that supported the event.
