Robotics

SD308's very own robotics team, 2338 Gear It Forward, competed this weekend and won their place at the upcoming World Competition.  In addition to finishing 4th in the robot games (and setting a 2022 season record) they won the most prestigious award in all of FIRST Robotics, The Chairman's Award.  This award is given to the team that most exemplifies the principles of outreach, equity, and inclusion and teams who win this award are automatically awarded a spot to compete at World Competition in Houston, TX April 20-23.  Our team consists of students from OE, OHS, and 3 different Junior High Schools.  To best explain what Gear It Forward has done to be honored with this award please click the link below to our Chairman's Video which was entirely created by our students in addition to the essay and presentation they did for the judges.  Below is a list of students on our team who attend school at OE.
If you would like to see what a robotics match looks like this year and to see Gear It Forward be a part of the first team in the world this season have all 3 robots climb to the top bar you can watch the video link below.  The match is 2:30 but they climb in the last 35 seconds.

BSA

The OE BSA club will be hosting our Black Excellence Show April 12 at 6pm in the

PAC. This event will be a celebration of leadership, resilience, and success and an expression of positivity and empowerment. This free event is open to students, staff, and the community; however, please bring cash to participate in our raffles.

The Popcorn Store

I scream, you scream, we all scream for POPCORN!

My CVE class is learning about giving back to the community and service learning and we have partnered with the Crochet Club to raise funds for their club by selling delicious The Popcorn Store popcorn.  For $10, you can choose from 8 flavors, and each bag contains approximately 12 cups of popcorn. (If you are familiar with The Popcorn Store, this is their medium size bag) Popcorn will be delivered on Wednesday, April 12 and orders distributed on the 13th and 14th, just in time for the long Easter weekend.  If you would like to place an order, you can order from one of the students, or email me and I will make sure your order is taken.  If you have any questions, please let me know.    Thank you for your continued support of our students' learning.

Show Your Support

Becky Killam (OE EL Coordinator) is beginning her battle to defeat breast cancer.  Click this link to purchase a shirt to show our support of her through this journey.  $5 from every shirt will be donated to the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Foundation.  T-shirts, long sleeve t-shirts, and crew neck sweatshirts are available, all with Killam on the back.  Please place your order by Thursday, April 14th.  Shirts are estimated to be delivered at the end of April.  See Kellie Schumacher with any questions.
