Library News

Notes from the Library…

There has been an uptick of behavior related issues in the library as the end of the school year nears. With that said, here are a few library related reminders …

1. Students are welcome to visit the library with a pink LRC pass that is written by the student’s curricular teacher (the teachers who knows a student genuinely needs to work in the LRC) and NOT their Guided Study, Freshman Seminar, or ASP teachers. When choosing to write a pass for a student please be cognizant of the reason, as students are expected to be productive (quiet reading, homework, chess practice) while visiting the library.

2. Students are expected to arrive to the library on time and should be getting their pink passes from their curricular teachers prior to the current period in which they ask to visit. If they are asking for a pass for the current period, it is too late – please advise the student to return to their GS, FS, or ASP.

3. Textbook season is upon us! The last day for students to visit the library during their lunch, GS, FS, or ASP is Friday May 12th.  If you would like to sign up early for the End-of-the-Year Textbook Return please click here

Thank you for supporting the LRC in these final weeks and all year long!

Guest Speakers Needed - P5

From Andrea Van Wie -

Throughout the semester my Parenting class has discussed a wide variety of topics. I would like to expand their experience and provide them with more guidance, knowledge, and direction.

I am seeking staff members who are interested in being a guest speaker 5th period. I am hoping to provide my class with the opportunity to talk with different people with varying experiences in the world of parenting. If you are interested please complete the form below. Once I review the responses I will reach out to you to confirm the details and select a date that works in your schedule.

I understand everyone's time is valuable and I greatly appreciate anyone willing to donate their time to talk with my class. If you are interested but have your own class period 5 I would be happy to sub in your classroom.

Craft Show

Good Morning,

On May 11, Creations by Pathways is having our Happy End of the Year Clearance Sale at Pathways Transition Center, 4175 Route 71 (across from OHS).  We are writing to ask if you would print the attached flier and place somewhere your teachers/staff will see it.  Also, if you can, please forward this to your teachers/staff.

Creations by Pathways is the student-led Micro-Business of the Pathways Transition Program, we are 18 to 22 year olds transitioning between high school and adult life.  At Creations by Pathways, we make dog treats, crafts, and bath products to sell at craft shows and online.  We use the money for special activities and outings (they had a pizza/movie day last month and will be going to a restaurant this month) and items we want in the program.  All products are created and customized by our students.

Thank you for your time,

The students of Creations by Pathways

Amplify

Model UN

Our Model United Nations team is looking for a co-sponsor. The co-sponsor would be responsible for attending meetings once a week and sharing the conference responsibilities. This is a great opportunity to work with students doing something they love and learn a great deal from. If interested reach out to Rebecca Walters, rwalters@sd308.org
